Food is always delicious and freshly prepared. Many options and they are happy to accommodate gluten free and vegetarian diets. A favorite with everyone in the familt.

This place is fantastic! It's a bit pricey, but worth it. The food is delicious, and the spot is cozy and charming. The service is excellent too. As a Colombian, I appreciate a well-made arepa, and the Venezuelan arepas here are top-notch. Cheers!

What a fun little place to have some Arepas! We were seated quickly on a Saturday during brunch with really kind service. The food came out quick. The individual arepas were absolutely loaded with CHUNKS of meat in them, the fried plantains were so yum, and the sampler (man oh man it was crispy). Would definitely give the place a try!!

This was our first time here and everything was excellent. The server was great, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect for the occasion. There are a few tables outside too, but we chose to sit inside today. We had started with the arepas appetizer (all non-vegetarian options) and they were so good! Then we had a gluten free empanada with chicken, a bowl with carne asada, and the carne asada meal with slaw. Everything was delicious and I would highly recommend this place! I also wanted to try the iced coffee with Nutella so I asked for it to go and it was amazing!

Great service, and the food was fresh and delicious..the atmosphere was small but comfortable. I will definitely be back.

Have gotten food here twice in the last two weeks and it is delicious. Gotten take out both times and ordering was easy and service when I picked up was friendly. You get one empanada per order but they are a pretty decent size. Two was a meal for me. Have also tried the hearts of palm salad- the small is large enough for two people to share. The place is very small and would not be good for a large group but they also have a nice little patio space outside that would likely be very nice in the warmer weather.

I went to Mariah when they opened and several times since and my wife and I have really enjoyed the food. We have gone with as large of a group as four but typically go with just the two of us and really like the restaurant. The inside is really nice. It has a nice decor and I feel like it is a pleasant atmosphere to have a meal in. The staff has always been super nice to me and a little chatty which I appreciate because I like interacting with people and so it has always been pleasant to come and talk about some of the menu items and ask for recommendations, which is always a big plus for me when I can get a recommendation. The worst thing about this place as with many places in Island Park is that it's street parking so you just need to make sure you budget some time to get a spot. Usually there are spots available in front of the store, but occasionally you may have to park down the block or around one of the side streets. All in all, I feel like there is not many Venezuelan restaurants and this is definitely worth checking out

We went to try Venezuelan Food for dinner. It's my first time to have Venezuelan food. I ordered their Classic Patacon with roasted pork. Wifey ordered Pabellon Arepa and Pollo Empanada. The food is tasty and delicious. This is a Family owned business. Friendly serving staff and we were able to be with their Father/Grand Dad celebrating his birthday that same night. Nice clean small well decorated restaurant located on a busy street in a small boro of Highland Park, NJ. Parking along the street. Students from Rutgers University frequently come and eat here. They're the only Venezuelan Restaurant here. I wish they have free WiFi.

If you are in Highland Park you must go to Merey! When you first step foot inside it feels like you are entering the living room of a friend. The space is intimate and homey and you are always greeted with casual warmth. The restaurant seats about 30, arranged primarily for pairs or parties of four. There is an enclosed outdoor area for the warmer months. I visited with my brother in law and Venezuelan sister in law. She confirmed that Merey is the real deal. I have to agree. The portions are generous, the flavors explosive, and the side sauces make the entrees sing. They have a great selection of traditional drinks and their dessert menu has plenty of good options. The sweetest touch was when we got our check and saw the churros had been gifted to us with a note "Love is sweet." Yes it is, and I sure love Merey.
